Key Narrative in "The Week Of"
Evaluate how successfully your film develops one of the key narratives listed?
In "The Week Of" the film develops a sense of mystery as Kenny Lustig seems to be constantly rejecting Kirby's offer of paying for everything for Kenny's daughter's wedding, throughout the entire film you believe that Kenny perhaps is just being stubborn, or wanting to just be polite and not accept the offers he received constantly, however towards the end it is shown that Kenny actually wanted to plan everything out himself as he cares a lot for his daughter and his stubbornness was actually just fear of him losing his daughter due to marriage.
In the same vein, the film also develops a sense of mystery as Kenny doesn't show what he has in plan which is only yet revealed a day prior to the actual wedding, this creates a sense of mystery because we see Kenny embark on different trips to find a solution to any sort of problem that perhaps the wedding set-up may have been having, you start wondering to yourself, why is Kenny not showing any of the plans? why doesn't he accept any of Kirby's offers? This is all a build-up which is revealed to be a semi-mediocre yet fun wedding.
Overall the main key narratives in the film "The Week Of" is mainly just a sense of mystery, there isn't any conflict between main characters and the "twist" which is supposedly that the wedding just goes horribly wrong and goes on fire is kind of predictable since throughout most of the film Kenny is fixing this type of stuff.
