Connect Analysis

Connect explores the views around imagination and emotion, one major factor that shows this is the music in the background. When the girl puts in her headphones as the music fades in she also zones out and starts imagining things primarily being shown that as soon as she zones out all of a sudden the businessman assassinates the old lady to take her seat, but then the girl zones back in so the music is stopped and the scenery is back to normal.
The music also romanticizes the moment that she had with the man, when they held hands the music faded back in and they started giving each other sudden looks, but when someone goes past them and they're separated from each other the music stops once again, overall the music portrays the woman's feelings and thoughts, fading in and out whenever she is in a state of emotion or imagination.
After the man gets off the bus you can see that the girl once again zones out and the music starts getting loud again, the people on the bus start dancing synchronized and the overall vibe is happy and cheerful. This mirrors what the girl is feeling after she'd had a beautiful romantic moment with the man, so she obviously feels very happy hence the cheerful music and dancing.
In terms of lighting the lighting doesn't show much in the short film however the lighting is very dim to show the dark nights of a city and how the woman's exhausted.
The camera usage in the short film is all about point of views, showing over the shoulder shots so that we know who's looking at who or what, this is how we know that the girl is interested in the man because of how many cuts there are of her constantly glancing at the man and the man glancing back, during this glancing scenes there's a lot of cuts however once they start holding hands the scene is slightly prolonged to show how they're both in a state of emotion.
